Legends of La Cienega 2016, ‘One of a Kind’
BORN & BREWED
“Los Angeles is a very dynamic city currently experiencing a renaissance with the influence of the arts as a highly influential characteristic. Many artists are enchanted by its unique physical and social environment and are making their home in LA for the many opportunities it offers. New and exciting galleries are opening throughout the city. My window installation represents my own rebirth and transformation—my love letter to the City of Angels. I came here 15 years ago, and the journey that I have taken has transformed me. I owe my essence and aesthetic to this beautiful city where I personally experienced my own rebirth and continue to thrive artistically.”

MARIA FELIX REIMAGINED
“The installation is an homage to Mexican actress and icon, Maria Félix, who refused to work in Hollywood due to the limited and stereotypical roles available for Hispanic women at the time. To express the theme, I reimagined Maria Félix living in the Los Angeles of today, working as a successful actress on her own terms.”
